Far too many luxury custom homes exceeded their budget simply because of poor lot selection.

Live Big, Do Small
The costs involved with building a big home are high. However, a smaller space that is well thought out and well built can often provide more enjoyment than a big house that isn’t. So, consider finding dual uses for spaces and encouraging the architect to keep the home efficient in order to give you what you want and still keep costs manageable. Custom home builders will help you through the process. Also, your budget might not allow you to build extra rooms at the time. You can always ask your builder to leave room for further construction in future.
